HELP! HOW to find a FLAT in VALENCIA?

• Hello everyone!!!
  I have a big problem and hope someone can help me. I have just come back from a week in valencia trying to find an apartment for me and my boyfriend but with no luck. We loved the city and were hoping to be able to find a little 1-bedroom flat in the city centre (el barrio del carmen) but only managed to get to see flats that were either really far from the city-centre, not really nice or too expensive. Before going 2 valencia, I had heard that with 500 euros we could expect 2 get a nice place in town but when we got there it didnt seem like that at all and the only pretty flat in a central aerea we found was for 700 euros a month. Now...have we been extremely unlucky or is that the realistic amount of money we are expected to pay for that sort of accommodation? If anyone has ideas, contacts, or anything helpful...MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!

  You were not unlike it is that difficukt to find a nice flat, in the city centre and for 500 it is hard but not impossible, best think to do it´s to walk arroun the streets and ask in apartments right now it is harder because the starting, curse, good luck!! any problem let me know
