Work permit for teaching English in South Korea

• Hi there! I want to teach English in South Korea to finance my stay there. Does anyone know if I can do so without a work permit? Or could I just do it black?

  Hi Barbara! I'm not sure, but I guess this wouldn't be such a good idea. Maybe this article helps on your decision ;o)
  
  Whenever you are planning on working in a foreign country you need to worry about the laws about staying in the country for an extended period of time. Korea work permits are no exceptions but there are a series of laws and regulations that you must follow to obtain Korea work permits. Most countries allow for a certain amount of time to be spent in the country without the need for a Korea work permits or visas. However, if you plan to stay in Korea for more than thirty days then you will need to make arrangements with the government to do so. This comes in the form of Korea work permits and visas. This can be a confusing and altogether difficult thing to deal with especially for someone who has never done it. With a little help and some research then you should have no trouble taking care of all the legal documentation that is necessary for an extended trip to the country.
  
  It is important to note that if you are caught in the country without the proper documentation then you will most likely be arrested. You should avoid this at all costs. There are no rights for people in jail in the country of Korea as there are for those in the US and legal representation is sketchy at best. The government of Korea takes this sort of thing very seriously and you do not want to be on the receiving end of their anger by any means.
  
  First and foremost you will need to determine how long you will be staying in Korea. For those who plan to stay longer than thirty days and up to one year you will need not only a work visa but also the proper Korea work permits. These permits are permission from the government for a person of foreign soil to live and work in the country for a period of twelve months. After that time you will need to have your Korea work permits renewed through the proper government offices and then you will be good for another year. These permits vary in price and they also contain certain restrictions that you should be aware of.
  
  
  The most common restrictions found on Korea work permits speak to the areas in which you are allowed to work. This is effect tells you where in the country that you may be for any certain amount of time. This is in place to keep people from lying about their whereabouts in the country at any given time. This is not a big problem for most people as they tend to stay in one place anyway because of the amount of work that they need to do. Of course this does also limit the amount of traveling that you can do in your off time but that is not a big problem most of the time. Korea work permits are not highly strict on this point as they allow for people to move freely about the country but to not stay for more than thirty days in any certain area unless it is the area in which they are working.
  
  You will find that most Korea work permits are very easy to deal with. There is no shortage of help to be had in the country when it comes to Korea work permits and you will need to check all the laws that govern the area in which you live. There are occasions where a visa and work permit are required and the person helping you with the obtaining of the Korea work permits should be able to tell you exactly what you need and how long you will need it for.

  First of all you have to improve your english skil so that you can communicate with people comfortably as i guess you are too poor to speak english language and more over , as a pakistani, i assume that you might not speak korean language as well at all . so you have to be good enough either of these language otherwise you can not get jobs you arecraving for

  Ladera, there is no point criticising someone on his bad English, since 90% korean citizen cannot speak English themselves and the remaining 10% who can only speak basic with no proper tenses and grammer. I dont think English would be a huge problem for anyone who wants to work there, unless you want to work in a teaching profession. What i'd like to suggest is before going there learn korean language that would be a great help to settle in and also for getting a job.

  Congratulations on writing such an annoyingly absurd post. Does English really "belong" to the "uk"? And, if so, are Englishmen (and women) the only ones qualified to teach English? Based on your post, I'd be surprised if you're capable of maintaining a conversation in English, much less teaching it. You should, at the very least, try to present your point-of-view in a way which does not undermine what you're trying to prove. And try to back up your assertions with examples and try to causally link them. Without that, your argument is just "garbled gibberish."
